Customer Rating: Summary: Recommend For Fans of ICP, If Not, Rent First Comment: Backyard Wrestling is a nice departure from the typical wrestling games that you see with the WWE releases, even though those are great in their own way as well. The only thing that I was disappointed in was how short the game is, especially compared to some of the others out there. The game itself is fun, but a little difficult until you get your sea legs, then it is just fun. The soundtrack is also really cool, much like the soundtracks you would see on a Tony Hawk game. But, let me be honest, the only real reason I bought the game is because I'm a Juggalo and ICP are playable characters. That is another cool aspect if you are an ICP fan, they have tracks of ICP in the soundtrack as well.
I'd recommend this game to fans of extreme wrestling and ICP. Like I said, the game is fun, but that is just me being biased since I love playing ICP. It is different than any wrestling game you have ever played, so it gets points for originallity. You may like the change and you may not, it is up to you. I'd say you should probably rent this first if you aren't that interested in ICP or this type of no ring wrestling.
Customer Rating: Summary: THE BACKYARD Comment: This game is very fun but, very bloody and gorey lots of weapons like flaming tables, barbed wire bats light tubes, bottles, bricks, bikes, stopsigns, shopping carts etc. one bad thing is no THUMBTACKS everyone says it has it, i never saw it and i had it for a couple of months i dont know wat they mean. anyway, jcw and byw combine with charecters like evil dead, mad man pondo, icp, mdog20, josh probition, josh asbill and SABU!lots of other guys and girls. create a wrestler isnt as good as smackdown! or raw games. pretty hard game, when you get it i suggest you try to do you vs second player to try it out wen you know who your favorite guy is try him out in talk show mode where people try to end bakyard wrestling i beat it with sabu hes my favorite but you have to unlock him. exellent game, hope they come out with a second game.
Customer Rating: Summary: Okay Comment: This game is alright. Ignore the title, this has very little to do with wrestling. It's more about picking up something and bashing your opponent over the head with it. There are wrestling moves, but they are way to easy for the A.I. to reverse. Here is the main problem with the game. The A.I. The computer does to many cheap things. You will be in the middle of a combo, and they will just do a grapple move on you, making combos almost obsolete. And the objects that they throw are homing missles. When was the last time you saw a T.V. or bike follow you around in a circle while in midair? Never. Not until this game. And the animation for the moves isn't very good. They try to look exagerated like Def Jam Vendetta. And the game is also wicked fast. There is no way to walk, all you can do is run. And the talk show mode only takes 20-30 minutes to beat. Overall, rent it, see if you like it. Even if you do like it, it is not worth a purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent but with quirks that I dislike Comment: Gameplay is fun, takes a little getting used to, however the game had some quirks that I found very annoying. Now for the die hard fighting game fan, this could quite possibly be right up your alley, it is very challenging. Like one reviewer wrote, you start out getting your a## beat. And the difficulty settings do not seem to make any impact on how tough the computer plays. If your energy is running low at the end of a fight, then it is guaranteed that you will have your a## handed to you with a supermove by the computer. Annoyingly predictable. Too add insult to injury, after you have worked hard to beat an opponent and then get beat by the next opponent, gameplay gets reset to the beginning of the level where you have to play against the person you just beat again. Had potential, a worthy renter, but definitely not a keeper.
